Modern Farmhouse Barndominium Plans

Modern Farmhouse Barndominium Plans For Sale

Modern farmhouse is the most requested look in barndominium design right now, and there is a structural reason for it. A post-frame or steel-shell building already wants to be a long rectangle under a single strong roof — which is exactly the silhouette a farmhouse has always had. You are not fighting the building type to get the style. You are leaning into it.

Below are fourteen modern farmhouse barndominium plans, from 1,292 to 2,454 heated square feet, with prices, footprints and full specifications. Seven of them link to photographs of finished homes built from those exact drawings, so you can see how the design resolves in real materials before you spend anything. The other seven are shown as renderings and CAD elevations. We have separated the two groups rather than mixing them, because a photograph and a rendering are not the same kind of evidence.

The style is more specific than it sounds, and getting it right is mostly about three decisions you make before framing starts.

The roof does most of the work.
A steep gable with an unbroken ridge is the single strongest farmhouse signal. Break that ridge with too many dormers or cross-gables and the house starts reading suburban instead. Standing-seam metal in black, bronze or galvalume finishes the effect and happens to be the roofing most barndominium builders default to anyway.
